Whether you’re on a short break or long holiday or live in the area, these are some of the best organic food shops we have discovered in Pembrokeshire, West Wales.
As these lovely shops are run by thoughtful peoples, they also stock a good range of eco-friendly, Fairtrade and local goodies too.
We still have more to discover, so sign up to our newsletter for updates! Following our Instagram is another great way to keep up-to-date with our progress. 😉
If you’ve wisely chosen to view this page then we’re guessing you already know the benefits of eating organic foods and buying local produce. So let’s get right to the good stuff!
TIPS
- ALWAYS CHECK OPENING DAYS AND TIMES before making a special trip (Usually, the Facebook pages linked below have the latest opening times.)
- If you’re in the area for a while and your nearest shop doesn’t stock what you need, it’s worth asking as they may be able to get something in for you.

The Little Pantry, Tenby
Old Market Hall, High Street, Tenby SA70 7EU
The Little Pantry has become our most frequented organic veg shop.
The excellent organic veg draws us in but we usually leave with a couple of bags of the good quality organic/local/eco-friendly treats, consumables and household supplies that fill the rest of the ‘Pantry’s well-stocked shelves.
PLUS, following up your weekly organic food shopping with a stroll on one of Tenby’s fine beaches is one of the most enjoyable ways, in South Pembrokeshire, to stock up on eco-friendly produce and products.
Great For…
- Organic vegetables – plenty to choose from, with a really good variety of, mostly local, organic veg
- Organic wine – delicious organic and sulphite free options
- Organic cooking oils, herbs and spices, etc.
- Lovely organic and/or local fruit
- Incredibly friendly and helpful service.
- Vegan options
- Plastic-free refills – nuts, seeds, rice, pasta, laundry supplies, hand-wash (our latest discovery), etc.
- …and usually some other treats to be found!
Plum Vanilla, Narberth
2A St James St, Narberth SA67 7DB
We enjoy to visit Plum Vanilla at around lunch time. Picture the scene:
A little bell rings as you open the door to the little wooden store of goodies. Pop over to the counter and order two slices of whatever excellent pizza they have freshly-made today and a couple of lovely cool bottles of organic Karma drinks.
While your pizza is being prepared, grab a basket and make your organic veg selection. It’s lovely to wander the little shop and peruse the goodies while your food is being cooked.
Pizza arrives!
Think about what else you need as you munch on a delicious pizza slice…
What about the delightful looking range of quality organic wines and spirits that looks, and would definitely feel, like a treat? Organic and/or Fairtrade rice, pasta, tomatoes, tea, tins, raisins, noooooodles? Do you need re-fillable laundry liquids? Nuts? Fresh home-made bread? Toiletries?
Having imbibed an elegant sufficiency of pizza, it’s time to finish your shop.
Don’t forget to select a couple of yummy home-made cake slices before you hit the check-out.
PLUS they also have proper restaurant right next door! And even more cake.

Wholefoods of Newport, Newport
Hen Bopty, East St, Newport SA42 0SY
As soon as we stepped into Wholefoods of Newport we knew we’d be coming back. Lovely organic veg and most other bases covered, from beans to pasta to sauces to organic frozen fruit (which can be hard to come by).
They also have a well-stocked deli counter with lots of organic and local cheeses and fresh food to takeaway and have for a picnic lunch, perhaps?
The staff were really friendly and helped us out with our searches for specific items.
We even came away with a new apron! Looking forward to stopping and shopping here again in the future.

A selection of organic veg and fruit awaits you outside this well-stocked little shop. The shelves are packed, floor to ceiling, with organic, Fairtrade, local and other ethically inclined goodies.
It’s really great that such a teeny tiny city as St Davids is so well catered for by people who really care about quality and the environment. Go buy all the things from St Davids Food and Wine (and our other recommended food shops).

Happy Planet Green Store, Narberth
Chestnut Chambers, Narberth, SA67 7AR
We first discovered Happy Planet Green Store as one of the early adopters of crisp packet recycling. They are forward thinkers for sure.
We have discovered all sorts of items and ideas inside their plastic-free doors. (For example, DID YOU KNOW: You can rent a goat in Pembrokeshire to keep your lawn in check? Well you can.)
On top of game-changing local knowledge, you will find a selection of organic veg and fruit but Happy Planet Green Store is all about the plastic-free. Re-fills and more…
A good selection of dry goods (pasta, rice, raisins, beans, nuts etc.), some of which are also organic, which you get to enjoy weighing and measuring out for yourself, using their little scoops into your own container (this may also be fun for children). It’s great to be able to get a tiny bit of something random you need for a recipe without having to buy a whole plastic bag full of something you may never use again.
Other plastic-free items we have enjoyed buying and trying from here: ponchos made of spuds, coconut scourer, horrible toothpaste in a tiny jar (so horrible, it’s probably worth the experience of having it in your mouth for a second or two just to give you a bit of perspective on the problems in your life), metal straws in a fetching straw holder, period products, re-fillable laundry liquids, yummy cookies, local milk in a returnable glass bottle…
Great For…
- Plastic-free shopping and goods (refills) – take your own containers
- Eco-friendly household products
- Excellent local notice-board
This next one is a cheeky ‘not Pembrokeshire’ one, but as we like it so much, we’re shoehorning it in here. Worth a trip, in our opinion!
Watson & Pratt’s, Lampeter and Aberaeron
Unit 23-24, Lampeter Industrial Estate, Tregaron Road, Lampeter, Wales, SA48 8LT
When looking at houses in West Wales, preparing for our move from Central London, Watson and Pratt’s was on our radar as a metaphor for our new way of life. A glowing promise of moving to a place brimming with local producers and an organic way of life. The lack of supermarkets in the area would be a bonus, not a concern.
Every year, we enjoy click and collecting our Christmas food order from this magical seeming glowing little corner of a small Lampeter industrial estate.
You can expect boxes bursting with organic veg and fruit, an array of colours, delicious cakes and cheeses and breads and so much more. We wish they were a little bit closer to our corner of Pembrokeshire!
They do deliver to a lucky few. It’s definitely worth checking if they deliver to you. Go here to find out watsonandpratts.co.uk/deliveryinfo/
We have discovered some of our grocery favourites at Watson and Pratt’s (REAL Kombucha and Halen Môn delicious sauces to name a couple), maybe you will too.
Great for…
- Organic fruit and veg
- Fresh baked bread and bakery delights
- Vegan options
- Discovering new products
- Great big spinach – excellent for making rollatini, which we would also highly recommend.
